The founding idea
Our story begins in Havana in 2009, with a simple idea: the band, the bar and the shared table should belong to one another. Not separate experiences to move between, but parts of an evening that finds its own pace. That idea still shapes the spirit of Timba Social Club: thoughtful hospitality, without ceremony.
At the heart of that story is the resident orchestra. Its musical thread runs from the interlocking pulse of son cubano through timba’s shifting energy to the open conversation of Latin jazz. More than a backdrop, the band gives the room something to share—a phrase to follow, a rhythm to return to, a reason to linger.
This is the club’s musical story, rather than a current performance programme.
The art of a shared evening
Give the musicians room to be heard. Notice the details as well as the big moments: a bass line holding steady, a horn answering a voice, the whole band turning together.
You do not need a vocabulary for the music or a practiced step. Curiosity is enough. Listen, move if you feel like it, or simply enjoy discovering a sound you have not met before.
A good night has space for conversation as well as sound. Whether your glass holds Cuban rum or something rum-free, belonging here is about the company—not what you drink.
